You don’t have to be a spiritual person to benefit from the healing that comes from forgiveness. June 26th is the first of many recognized days of forgiveness around the world. Perhaps these days are recognized so frequently because of how important it is to forgive and be forgiven.
Here are a few things to consider on Forgiveness Day:
- Holding a grudge hurts you far more than the person who wronged you in the first place.
- It is just as important to remember to forgive yourself as it is to forgive others.
- To withhold forgiveness causes stress, which may manifest itself in physical ailments as well.
- Forgiveness doesn’t mean you accept or approve of the wrong that was done, just that you are making a choice to move beyond it.
