March marks National Kidney Month, and we’re rallying for your support to shed light on kidney disease, impacting over 30 million American adults. Let’s unite this March to cherish our kidneys and spread awareness. Did you know, 1 in 3 adults faces the risk of kidney disease? Diabetes, high blood pressure, family history of kidney failure, and age 60 or older are significant risk factors. Join us in taking proactive steps towards kidney health awareness!
In Wisconsin:
- More than 1,600 men, women, and children are waiting for a kidney transplant
- 6,744 men, women and children rely on dialysis to live
- 6,045 women and men are kidney transplant recipients
Kidney disease often has no symptoms, and it can go undetected until very advanced. In the month of March, we encourage you to get tested for kidney disease because early detection and treatment can slow or prevent the progression of the disease. Two simple tests to check for kidney disease:
- Urine Test
- Blood Test
